4 game-changing benefits of facial oils

4 game-changing benefits of facial oils

Nourishing, age-defying, soothing, protecting, balancing: face oils offer so many benefits to all skin types. They remain, however, highly debated. Here, Dr Mazin, our Founder, busts some myths and explains how to use them for best results.

Our 100% natural facial oils have transformed skincare results for thousands and won awards including “Best face oil for acne” and “Best winter face oil” with The Independent, Hip & Healthy and Woman & Home. Skin already produces oil, though, so what exactly do face oils do…?

“While normal skin produces oil (sebum) in a balanced way, dry skin underproduces it and oily skin overproduces. Using the right, high quality face oil gives skin back what it’s lacking, restoring healthy balance.” — Dr Mazin

1. Daily nourishing super-booster

Dry, dull, rough, red, tight or flaky skin signals weakness in the skin barrier — and facial oils specialise in re-fortifying it. Bakuchiol Face Oil harnesses Bakuchiol, Rosehip and Olive Squalane — herbal antioxidants, omegas and fatty acids — to deeply replenish, seal in moisture, protect from water loss, restore brightness and leave skin soft and smooth.

“Some customers ask if they should swap their daily face cream for our oil, or query why they need both. Face oils and moisturisers play different roles. Moisturisers primarily hydrate and take actives deeper into skin layers. Oils nourish and strengthen on top. Used together, they support each other's benefits really well.” — Dr Mazin

2. Rebalancing, anti-acne hero

“The biggest myth about face oils is that they’re only for dry skin. Not so. The right one is also powerfully effective for oily, breakout-prone skin.” — Dr Mazin

Blemish Rescue Face Oil is 100% natural, ultra-light and non-pore-blocking. Packed with anti-inflammatories, antioxidants, antiseptic actives and electrolytes — including Bakuchiol, Prickly Pear Seed, Acai Berry and Andiroba — it helps regulate bacteria, reduce redness and restore clearer, rebalanced skin. It also strengthens the skin barrier, helping defend against environmental stressors that can worsen breakouts.

3. Facial massage marvel

Massage works wonders for skin’s look and feel. It boosts blood flow and lymphatic drainage, supports oxygen and nutrient delivery, flushes excess fluid, promotes smoother skin and encourages collagen and elastin production. Whether using fingers, a jade roller or gua sha tool, face oils enhance slip, making massage effortless and enjoyable. In turn, massage helps oils penetrate better — a win win.

4. Overnight repair

A strong skin barrier is the foundation of healthy skin. It protects against external aggressors like UV, pollution and bacteria, absorbs nutrients more effectively and keeps skin comfortable, plump and glowing.

“By day, skin works hard to protect itself. At night, it shifts into repair mode. This is why facial oils are especially great to use in evening routines.” — Dr Mazin

Skin follows a natural circadian rhythm. At night, cells reproduce faster and blood flow increases to support repair. Massaging in a facial oil supports this renewal process so you see maximum benefits by morning.

How do I add facial oil to my daily routine?

Apply facial oil to freshly cleansed skin, free of make-up, dirt and SPF. Pat skin dry, then massage a little oil before or after moisturiser. As moisturisers are water-based and work in deeper skin layers, oils are generally best applied after. Because our oils are saturated with herbal actives, only a few drops are needed.

While oils shine in evening routines, their superior ability to inhibit oxidative damage makes them ideal for morning use too. We can’t escape free radicals — but we can fight them with our facial oils.

As with all new skincare, always patch test first.
